Why should I support Kaminari Taiko?
Because you want to help us put on more free public taiko concerts, visit more schools, educate more people about Japanese culture, and spread the joy of taiko across the Gulf South and beyond.
What will the money be used for?
Right now, Kaminari Taiko is an all-volunteer organization. Each Kaminari member pitches in because we are passionate about taiko and about Kaminari. But we all have day jobs, and there's a limit to how much we can accomplish on our own in our spare time.
With your help through sponsorship, we can continue to promote taiko, music, and Japanese culture. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with an itinerary that takes us across several states. We need your help in order to pursue our goal of positive enrichment for the performers and the people they play for. With your support, we can reach more audiences who have never heard taiko.
Some ways your support will be used:
- Community outreach
- Providing free hands-on, educational taiko workshops for special needs kids on the One Heart Taiko Tour
- Room and board while on tour
- Transportation
- Administrative overhead
- Rent and utilities for our dojo
- Instrument maintenance
How long does a Supporting Membership last?
A Kaminari Taiko Supporting Membership lasts one year from the day we process your form. We'll let you know the exact date in a welcome email.
Can my whole family share one Supporting Membership?
Yes. There is no official limit to the number of people who can be covered by one Supporting Membership. If you need more seats or T-shirts than are included in your membership rewards package, though, you'll have to purchase those separately.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. Kaminari Taiko is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, so a donation you make to Kaminari is eligible as a tax deduction. When you make your donation, we will send you a receipt that notes the amount and date of your donation; keep this receipt if you intend to itemize your deductions. Talk to your accountant or tax preparer for more information on deducting donations.
